KDE (K Desktop Environment) project provides Desktop Environments for Unix based systems. It is also one of the most popular Desktop Environments other than GNOME out there and so is there applications. However if you think that these applications can run on Linux only, think again. Because they’ve made available an ambitious project called “KDE on Windows”, which lets users run KDE applications on Windows platform.

Ubuntu 9.04 Available for Download

Thu Ubuntu team today announced the release of Ubuntu 9.04(aka ‘Jaunty Jackalope’) Desktop and Server editions and Ubuntu Netbook Remix. This also marks the 9.04 releases of Kubuntu, Xubuntu, Edubuntu, UbuntuStudio, and Mythbuntu as well. It is interesting to note that Canonical people have come up with special edition for netbooks with Netbook Remix.

Fedora 11 Beta Released

Red Hat sponsored Fedora Project has announced the Beta release of their upcoming Fedora 11(Leonidas), which is scheduled for release on end of the May, 2009. This Beta release comes with many new features, most notable of them are New volume control in GNOME using PulseAudio, GNOME 2.26, Ext4 file system, Btrfs file system, KDE 4.2.1 and Xfce 4.6.0. Also it is going to have 20 second startup and shutdown feature.
