Know If You can Run Windows 7

It is commonly said that, you will be able to run Windows 7 if you’ve used Windows Vista on your PC. But if you are not sure whether your PC needs requirements for Windows 7, Microsoft comes at your rescue with a utility called Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor.

For all those who might not know, here is a finalized system requirements for Windows 7.

  • 1GHz or faster processor (32-bit or 64-bit)
  • 1GB of RAM for 32-bit and 2GB RAM for 64-bit.
  • 16GB of free disk space for 32-bit and 20GB free space for 64-bit
  • DirectX 9 compatible graphics processor with 128 MB of graphics memory

Windows 7 Upgrade AdvisorBased on these requirements, this tool checks your PC’s processor, graphics, memory and storage specification. It also checks for compatibility issues with existing installed software or drivers. All you need to do is download and install this free utility. Once installed, it goes through check of your PC components’ and gives you a report of your PC’s compatibility with Windows 7. It also provides suggestions for resolvable issues found during check. It is advisable to connect all the devices-which you are going to use with Windows 7- to your PC. Here is the screen shot of my PC’s compatibility report with Windows 7.

This tool is currently in Beta. So, you might encounter some issues with it. Also this is currently available in English version only. Download size of this tool is ~6 MB.
