Google Searchology: More Options in Google Search

13 May 2009 6 Comments

Google has rolled out some really cool features with Google Search. They are now offering real time search (competing Twitter, Google?), Search Options, Wonder wheel and many more. Calling this as event Searchology, Google want people to get more sophisticated at search to solve more complex problems.

Google LogoGoogle’s Vice President of Search and User Experience Marissa Mayer called this improvement as a way to organize ‘universal search results’ that Google introduced two years ago. To start with, Google search result displays “Show options…” link at the top of the results. Just click on that to see available options. There you can filter your results in forums, videos and reviews.

Next up are options to display search results according to content recency and then comes Wonder wheel, a cool way to visually search Google. It displays related keywords around your search topic and lets you further narrow down results visually. And there is Time line to help you track the evolvement of the topic you are looking for. Check this official video out to get the idea of new features.
